The crews that you see out in the fire district have radios and pagers that keep them in constant contact with Randolph County 9-1-1 and other personnel within the fire department.

Firefighters work 24 hour shifts. When not on emergency calls, training and equipment maintenance take up a majority of a firefighter's time. Constant training is required so that department personnel are ready to handle any type of emergency. The maintenance and cleaning of the stations is part of the firefighter's day. Pre-incident planning and community service is also conducted while a firefighter is on shift.
