Description
Responsibilities include performing routine skilled mechanical work on a variety of automotive, construction and specialized equipment; does related work as required.  Work includes contact with other City personnel.  Work is performed under the regular supervision of the Fleet Mechanic II.  

Education and Experience Requirements               
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and some experience in repairing automotive and heavy equipment; experience in routine maintenace; diesel mechanical experience preferred but not required.

Special Requirements    
Must possess a valid North Carolina driver’s license and have a safe driving record.  CDL's preferred but not required; Incumbent will be required to adhere to the “on-call” practices and procedures followed by the Public Works Department. Must be able to work overtime on short notice. May be required to work on weekends and holidays as needed.
